Merck Animal Health’s Antimicrobials for the Treatment of PRDC

Treating respiratory disease in pigs is a difficult task. The numerous pathogens, interactions between the pathogens and different variables on individual farms make it a complicated syndrome. When bacteria are involved in the syndrome, either as primary pathogens or opportunitic pathogens, the use of antimicrobials is indicated.

Merck Animal Health can offer five options for the treatment of PRDC in swine

These products offer the advantages of four different antimicrobial actives:

  • cefquinome
  • florfenicol
  • amoxycillin trihydrate
  • tildipirosin

Three different routes of administration:

  • injection
  • feed
  • water

The specific on farm disease situation regarding timing, location, incidence severity and pathogens involved can be matched with a suitable antimicrobial formulation and the appropriate administration route.

The formulations offer the flexibility to deliver the most convenient and effective option for each client’s individual swine operation.
