Merck Animal Health’s Respiratory Disease Vaccine Range
Controlling respiratory disease in pigs is a difficult task. The numerous pathogens, interactions
between the pathogens and different variables on individual farms make it a complicated syndrome.
Identification of the main pathogens involved on an individual farm and the selection of the
appropriate vaccination program for that farm is vital for good production results. Merck Animal Health
provides vets with a technical partnership in the ever changing battle against Porcine Respiratory Disease
Complex (PRDC). Skilled staff, diagnostic expertise and a full range of respiratory vaccines are available.
Through the partnership of Merck Animal Health and the pig veterinarian, pig producers can improve productivity and profits.
Vaccines to help control PRDC
- Porcilis PCV: An inactivated vaccine against Porcine circovirus infection developed and produced in Boxmeer, the Netherlands.
- M+PAC: an oil-and-water adjuvanted vaccine for control of M. hyopneumoniae in pigs.
- Circumvent PCV: An inactivated vaccine against Porcine circovirus infection developed and produced in Desoto in the USA.
- Circumvent PCV M : Circumvent PCV M is a ready-to-use combination vaccine for protection against both PCV2 infection and disease caused by Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae.
- Myco Silencer ONCE: Contains an inactivated culture of Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae in the adjuvant XSolve.
- Porcilis M Hyo: An effective vaccine against M. hyopneumoniae with no interference by MDA.
- Porcilis PRRS: A PRRSV live vaccine based on an EU strain to protect
against the economic losses of a PRRSV infection.
- Porcilis PRRS and Mhyo: Porcilis PRRS and Porcilis M Hyo can now be safely mixed together with no loss of efficacy, for more convenient dosing.
- Porcilis APP: An A. pleuropneumoniae subunit vaccine containing
APXI, APXII, APXIII and OMP antigens offering broad protection.
- Porcilis AR-T DF :
A highly effective vaccine containing a truncated P. multocida toxin, which is highly immunogenic but non-toxic, and inactivated B. bronchiseptica cells.
- Porcilis Glässer: The H. parasuis vaccine with proven
efficacy against the most important serotypes.
- MaxiVac Excell 5.0: A pentavalent inactivated vaccine to aid in the control of swine influenza virus.
- Porcilis AD Begonia: A live attenuated vaccine containing the Begonia strain of the Aujeszky's disease virus. The vaccine strain is gE negative allowing field infections to be differentiated from vaccine responses.
- PRV/Marker Gold: A live virus vaccine for the immunization of pigs against pseudorabies, specific genetic modifications of the vaccine virus optimize safety and efficacy, and allow serologic differentiation based on either gE or gX deletions.
Diluvac Forte, a unique adjuvant
Diluvac Forte, a unique, patented dl-α-tocopherol (vitamin E) based formulation was specially developed
for the Merck Animal Health pig range to:
- Increase stimulation of T- and B-lymphocytes.
- Increase phagocytosis.
- Protect immune cells from critical damage by peroxidases.
By incorporating vitamin E into the adjuvant, these effects at the vaccination site result in
a prolonged and enhanced immune response. Diluvac Forte is also very tissue tolerant, causing no
reaction at the injection site.

The aqueous formulation means:
- Low viscosity and excellent syringeability, even at low temperatures.
- No foaming.
- Vaccination equipment is easy to clean
Diluvac Forte is thus the standard choice of adjuvant for Merck Animal Health’s pig vaccine range.
